In Nintendo Switch Sports, familiar activities are brought back for more fun. Some of these include tennis and bowling.
However, the game brings some new ones to the table as well, like soccer, volleyball, badminton, and chambara. Additionally, golf will be added in a free update coming in the fall.
To play, you use the Joy-Cons along with a leg strap for certain sports. It includes intuitive motion controls for easy play. The game allows for both local and online play in groups of two to four.
Gamers were excited for the refurbishment of such an iconic game. Many found it fun, entertaining, and easy to get the hang of.
The game requires active motion as the basis of its play, and joining in with family and friends is highly encouraged. So, ease of access and a high replay value are a must.
Additionally, many enjoyed the clean graphics and visuals throughout the game in general. While the game is based on the Wii original, this new title brings a fresh and modern look to what we grew up with.
However, like all games, if there are fans there are also critics. Arguably the biggest criticism both before and after the game's release was the look of the characters. It was a huge jump from the familiar look of the Miis we’re used to, and it wasn't received well.
Many disliked them and wished that they would've brought back the older models or something different than what was delivered.
An additional critique was that overall, it didn’t live up to the expectations of some for its refurbishment.
Lastly, many felt that there weren’t enough sports included in the base game. Meanwhile, others preferred that this new game would play closer to the original Wii version.
Despite its perceived flaws, the game seems to be widely accepted overall by both new fans as well as fans of the original title. Based on its high ratings, it seems this game is a worthwhile addition to your Switch library.
